My All American Rejected Writing Ideas

I love playing with my notes app.  If I’m around women, its my go-to, my notes app is my LeBron and the weather app is D-Wade.  So every so often, I stumble across an old note, a half-finished draft, or some vague title idea that once felt like something I’d write about, until it wasn’t. Some never made it past a sentence. Some were only hypothetical titles. Some are mixed in with a grocery list or some random note I jot. Others had a decent run before falling apart. None of them quite worked out, but hey maybe they’ll be interesting anyway. This is a pretty shitty piece of writing but hey umm I haven’t posted in a month so here’s something!

  • Help! My Chinese Drop-shipper Ghosted Me!
I didn’t really know how to make this a post beyond a sentence.
  • Why The New York Giants Will Win The Super Bowl This Year
Scrapped last year for obvious reasons but maybe this year it makes it out of the trash bin.
  • What If I’m Only Interesting When I’m a Little Bit Unwell?
Spoiler: I deleted the draft when I started feeling better.
  • A Very Personal Essay About Pretending I’ve Recently Read Moby-Dick
This one made it to four sentences. None of which were about the book.
  • The Time I Tried to Journal Every Day and Accidentally Wrote Myself Into Therapy
I got too open with writing this one.
  • A Love Letter to My Drafts Folder
217 unsent texts, funny tweets that I can’t post while having a j*b, poems, essays, and one note that just says “what did the squirel do with Travis?” … I don’t know a Travis.
  • Would I Even Want to Know If Aliens Were Here?
Yes I would. So it was scrapped.
  • F**k You DeSean Jackson
I stand by every word in this title. 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕 I remember this day vividly, December 19, 2010, I cried because of a football game.
  • What My Sports Teams Have Taught Me About Hope, Pain, and Being Myself
Honestly I don’t remember why I scrapped this, I just saw it in my WordPress Trash and it was a title.
  • My Instagram Reels Algorithm Thinks I’m a Lesbian
Pretty funny I do like the content it gives me though, although the occasional one that is very upfront about “If you’re reading this, she doesn’t like girls move on” reminds me that the algorithm thinks I’m a wlw.
  • Bass Drops and Bass’ Blunders
Back in college I made beats in my free time on my computer and this MIDI keyboard I found. Now don’t get me wrong these were abysmal and unfortunately I do not have access to them anymore since I spilled a beer on that laptop a few years ago. And that’s why I quickly scrapped this idea, since I’d love to share them with the piece.
  • Analyzing Evil: Dexter Morgan
  • Analyzing Evil: Tony Soprano
  • Analyzing Evil: Tommy DeVito (not the QB…although)
  • Analyzing Evil: Walter White
Now this ‘series’ I would love to write and maybe still will someday because exploring what makes these characters so captivating and morally complicated is endlessly interesting. A big reason I haven’t started yet is that I don’t want to rewatch Breaking Bad. I’m already in the middle of so many shows and feel like Walter White deserves his own full piece if I do write about him. Plus, it would take a lot of time to do all these guys justice… or injustice? Even though I do like most of them besides Walt.
  • A White Man Who Doesn’t Even Really Like Rap’s Opinion and Analysis on the Drake vs Kendrick Beef (fight)
So here’s what I had written down on my train ride back home from work one dayTo quote the greatest musical genius of all time “I miss the old Kanye”, the artits formerly known as Kanye West. That quote means nothing in relation to this piece besides when Kanye tried to get involved in the beef at the (fancy word for start) and his rhymes went unanswered, unnoticed, seemingly ignored by the greater hiphop and internet community. So another feature of this piece is that I will not do any research or analysis of the background of the beef, no deep digging into this, the only ‘facts’ that I will present to you are ones that have come to me from my personal experiences on x.com (maybe more about that name change and twitter later) and what my friends have discussed in our group chats that have largely just seen me as a passenger in the discussion only chiming in with little quips and comments, to which I am met with an abundance of Laugh emotes as I am a funny guy.The Start?Okay so again, no research all from my head. The start was to my limited and probably very false knowledge, J Cole calling himself, Drake and Kendrick the “Big Three” of rap, akin to the Miami Heat’s “Big Three” of the 2010’s. And then a few weeks ago it escalated with Kendrick having a verse on a song by Future where he started throwing jabs at Drake and J Cole, the other members of the supposed “Rap Big Three” saying its just him, and dissing drake and J Cole. Then Drake got involved and in short (edit after the fact: that was pretty funny) he called Kendrick short and that he sells more records than him.
