Not My Monkeys

I used to chase it all in every way,
Sweat the small stuff, let it steal my day.
Now I shrug and let things slide,
The world spins on, yet so do I.

I laugh at mistakes, let them roll past,
Stop holding grudges, stop clinging to the last.
Turns out peace isn’t something I find,
It grows when I loosen the grip in my mind.

I take a breath, I sit, I smile, I rest,
I don’t need perfect to feel my best.
Life’s lighter when I quit the fight,
And happiness sticks when I get it right.

I can’t control it all, and that’s okay…
Finally, I’m just happy today.
